What we keep

MoBot Learn works without an account. Until somebody signs in, a child’s work stays in this device’s browser.

This page describes what the program does today. It is not a contract and it is not legal advice.

On this device

Written by the browser, with no account and nothing sent. Nothing is written just by opening a lesson: it takes a tick, a video started, or 30 seconds on the page.

  • Lessons opened and finished Why To pick up where the child stopped Where Browser local storage (mobot.progress.v1) How long Until you erase it
  • Ticked boxes and the second reached in a video Why So a finished step is not done twice Where Browser local storage (mobot.progress.v1) How long Until you erase it
  • A profile name, if you type one Why To tell two children apart on one tablet Where Browser local storage (mobot.progress.v1) How long Until you erase it
  • Quickstart steps ticked Why To resume the build at the right step Where Browser local storage (mobot.quickstart.v1) How long Until you erase it
  • The last kit opened Why To reopen the right kit next time Where mobot_kit cookie How long 180 days

Only if you create an account

A MoBot account is optional. It carries the work to another device and keeps the courses a kit unlocked.

  • Your session (account id, account name and e-mail) Why To keep you signed in and show your name in the header Where Session cookies, signed and unreadable by page scripts How long 30 days, or until you sign out
  • The same progress, copied to our servers Why To find the lessons again on another device Where Database (learn_user_lesson_progress) How long As long as the account exists
  • Courses a kit unlocked, with the date and where it came from Why To know what is open, and until when Where Database (learn_user_course_access) How long As long as the account exists
  • Use of an activation code: code fingerprint, card number, date, IP address and browser Why So a code posted online cannot be used a thousand times Where Database (learn_code_redemptions) How long As long as the account exists

What is never asked for

  • No e-mail address and no phone number for a child.
  • No date of birth, no postal address.
  • No photo, no recording, no free text.
  • No location.
  • No payment: nothing is sold here.

Who can see it

  • Whoever is holding the device: work kept outside an account is protected by nothing but the device itself.
  • The signed-in account, for its own lessons.
  • Members of one household share the courses a kit unlocked — not each other’s progress.
  • No teacher and no class for now: those pages do not exist yet.

What leaves the device

  • Without an account: nothing. No progress is sent.
  • With an account: the lesson list (id, finished or in progress, second reached, ticked boxes) goes to our servers when you press “Save”, and when a lesson is finished while signed in.
  • Pages are served from our servers, which therefore see the IP address and the browser, like any website.

Audience measurement

  • No third-party measurement is loaded on the learning pages: no Google Analytics, no pixel, no ad network.
  • There is no advertising, and nothing is sold or handed to a third party.

Getting the data back

There is no export button yet.

Everything this device keeps sits in two browser local-storage keys: mobot.progress.v1 and mobot.quickstart.v1. Both can be read and copied from the browser’s developer tools.

For account data, ask through the contact given where you bought the kit.

Erase everything

The button below erases progress, ticks, profiles, quickstart steps and the last kit opened — on this device and this browser only.

It is immediate and final: there is no bin to recover it from.

The browser can also clear it all at once, by deleting the site’s data.

Careful: if the work was already saved to an account, the account’s copy stays. Sign out, then ask for the account to be deleted through the contact given where you bought the kit.

A question

For an account request — access, correction, deletion — write to the MoBot contact given where you bought the kit.
